‘Ticking Tomb’ and 'Fort Delaware' prints
are first two in ‘Haunted Places’ series
One of the most popular mid-Atlantic legends is the story of the “Ticking Tomb.” The tale’s origin goes back to the arrival of surveyors Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon to the Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania region in the 1760s. Before they drew their famous Mason-Dixon Line, there’s a tale that the famous pair encountered a young boy who swallowed Mason’s invention and was cursed by the surveyor. Some say a certain gravesite in the old Landenberg, Pa., area cemetery still “ticks,” giving proof to the power of Mason’s curse.
Watercolor artist Kathleen Okonowicz has captured the beauty and mystery of the historic meeting house at the Hardshell Baptist Graveyard near Landenberg, Pennsylvania, which still today serves as the home of the “Ticking Tomb.”
A print of this full-color artwork, along with specific directions to the graveyard, and the stone marking the mysterious ticking gravesite, are included with this offer.
A print of Fort Delaware, the second in this series, is also available.
Each is matted and ready to place in a standard 8” by 10” frame (frame not included). Cost is $20 per print, plus $2.50 Shipping and Handling. Send check, made out to Kathleen Okonowicz, 1386 Fair Hill Lane, Elkton, MD 21921 (For more details, call Kathleen at 410 398 5013.)
